How to store and transport UPVC, CPVC and MPP power protection pipes

Update:18 Dec 2020

There are three types of PVC power protection tubes, namely PVC-U power protection tubes, CPVC power cable protection tubes, and MPP power protection tubes. Do you know the difference between these three power cable protection tubes? How to store and transport PVC and CPVC pipes

1. the difference between UPVC, CPVC and MPP power cable protection pipe

UPVC power cable protection pipe: use hard polyvinyl chloride resin as the main raw material. Add appropriate additives, a kind of power and electricity protection tube extruded, and it can be used in the construction, transformation and expansion of urban low-voltage power cables.

CPVC power cable protection tube: an improved power cable protection tube with special physical properties, which is made of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C) resin as the main material, added with necessary additives and extruded. It is mainly suitable for the laying of power cables and plays a role of guidance and protection. It can withstand the high temperature caused by overload and short circuit of high-voltage power cables above 30,000 volts.

MPP power cable protection pipe: a new type of plastic pipe made of modified polypropylene as the main raw material, using special formula and processing technology. It has high strength, good high temperature resistance, easy cable insertion, convenient construction, and cost saving. advantage

2. Storage and transportation of PVC and CPVC pipes

Thermoplastic tube can be stored indoors or outside the yard. When stored outdoors, the pipeline should be protected from direct sunlight, and the pipeline should be properly supported during storage to prevent sagging or bending. The pipes should be stored on the level ground at the job site in the packaging provided by the factory.

Care must be taken to avoid compression, damage and deformation. When stacking and stacking packages, care must be taken to ensure that the weight of the upper stack will not deform the pipes in the lower unit. The stacking height of the packaged pipes should not exceed 2.5 meters. Care must be taken to ensure the instability caused by the height of the railing, otherwise it may cause collapse, pipeline damage, and personal injury.

Thermoplastic pipes shall not be stored in a confined area where the temperature is elevated and close to the heat source. Exposure to high temperatures can cause product deformation. When stored outdoors, the thermoplastic tube must be covered with an opaque material. The cover layer provides sufficient air circulation above and around the pipe as needed to prevent excessive heat absorption, which may cause discoloration and deformation of the product.

Stored PVC piping products should not be exposed to temperatures above 40°. Stored CPVC piping products should not be exposed to temperatures above 50°.

CPVC piping products are tough and corrosion-resistant. Avoid falling and bearing external loads during transportation. Thermoplastics can be damaged by wear and gouging. The pipe cannot be dragged to the ground. Avoid falling from a high place and rough dragging. In cold weather, check whether the product has scratches, cracks or cuts caused by improper handling; storage. After discovery, these parts must be cut off and discarded.

When storing and transporting, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of different pipes to avoid damage to the pipes, and to distinguish between different types of pipes to facilitate the selection of suitable pipes in different environments.
